To add some context to this - today we are having intermittent issues caused by underlying Heroku issues - would be really helpful to be able to say that on our status page.
I'd love to be able to add a note to each downtime notice, so months later if a client complains I can accurately say "That was when AWS went down" or "That was because your developer wipes the site by mistake" :)
~~I understand that devolopping a full system, with API etc, is a big task. What about just having a simple 1-line text field, "About this page" or "See more", where we can put
some text
and a link a a full page on our servers with info regarding incidents, maintenance etc?~~
 How can I be sooo stupid, this already exists... so we linked the customer status page to our global man-made Status page with explanations for outages and announcements for next planned service interruptions.
This was planned for a while because initially with only the individual status pages there was no way to specify any text. But now that we have the multi-site status pages (e.g. https://demo.updown.io/) there is a free text "description" at the top, which supports links, newlines and emojis. This allows for this kind of use-case (roughly) as you can edit this field to indicate incidents, times, some emoji to catch attention on current status, link for more details, etc..
Now that we have this, I prefer to wait before implementing more specific status page features because we don't really want to become a full-fledged status page provider otherwise people will ask for MUCH more (notifications to clients, RSS, integrating other metrics, custom design, etc..) and we have enough work to spend our time on the core product (the monitoring) already ☺
I notice that your own status page has this https://status.updown.io/history , i don't think it needs to be complex - though something like cronitors would be an amazing addition and worth paying more for.
Not gonna lie, this would be fantastic... I would pay additionally if this would be available. But of course - possibility to subscribe (notifications) and white-label would also be needed...

That would be an awesome feature. Plus a small java script which would show a message on the main page leading to the status page.
This would be really great! I'd love to be able to update users as to why a page is down.

allow to add comments/messages on status page, that way updown.io allows fully to act as a full status page, with incidents progress and so on.
Being able to annotate an incident specifically would be great. Especially in Japan, where they want to know root cause for every spot of downtime. 😅
