Follow-up email notifications (“still down”, “up”) are currently sent out as independent mail with no In-Reply-To or References headers.
If they contained one of said headers with with a reference to the message ID of the original “down” notification, mail clients and similar applications (like ticketing system) could automatically group them or show them as threads.

Thanks for this suggestion, I tend to agree, though I know some people prefer the opposite for alerting (to make sure they get chronological alerts in inbox and make it easier to see at a glance which alerts were closed or not). But I guess this all depends on mailbox type and usage ^^ I'll keep the suggestion open for now to gather more feedback (pro or cons).
